Mine must be the new one as I bought it a month or two ago. I love it, but do have to agree about the straps - I find them quite hard work and my little man's only 4 months old!
The non-adjustable straps are so short, we struggle to get our fairly average sized 7 month old in it without hurting him, especially in winter coats.
The brakes constantly stick and are difficult to disengage.
Steering is often a joke, it randomy veers to the side with no provocation and at other times won't turn when you want it to.
The final indignity for us is that the mechanism that holds the front wheel into the chassis of our 3 wheeler has just broken making it unusable since the wheel falls out.
