You have a young child that's taller than average, but you still want to make sure they are protected, even past the legal limit. The solution: a taller car seat and we've found the best car seats for very tall toddlers and children

We're afraid we can't give you specific advice on which car seat to buy for your 8-year-old son because that depends very much on the make and model of your car.
We'd suggest you first find some narrow car seats that you like. There may be 1 or 2 in this article we published about narrow car seats: https://www.madeformums.com/reviews/best-car-seats-that-fit-3-in-the-back-of-most-cars/
Then use the Fit Finder on each manufacturer's website to see which of these car seats would find in your car.
When you have a shortlist, we'd suggest you go (with your car) to a retailer that specialises in fitting car seats in cars (such as Halford's). There, you should be able to put your preferred seats in your car and see which one fits the space best.
