high liver function

hi my son, who is neary 1 years was recently admitted to hospital with bilatarel pnemonia. He was born at 27weeks, so we exspected the odd problem come the winter months (just not in august). While we was in hospital he started passing white stools, so they checked his liver function. The day of discharge they informed us it came back in the thousands, so they are taking some more bloods and will be in touch in a weeks time (which will be on wednesday) is this normal? should i be worried? what could it mean? as right now this is really playing on my mind.
