I hear what you're saying wrt MIL visit! If my MIL tells me one more time that her other granddaughter was able to squeeze a squeaky a toy by 6 months and isn't it odd that T (now 9 months) can't - or "doesn't understand how to" as she says...... Grrr!!
As far as clapping goes T has been able to do a lot of things with open hands since she was about 6-7 months, so clapping, waving (though only hello, not goodbye), high fives etc but she never bashed things with a closed fist when she very small and I'm fairly sure she still has never done it. She also says dadadada for just about evetything but has only made a sound like mamama three times. Sad, I know but I've been counting and noticing every one! They're all different, aren't they.
