  • Hi,
Glad its all gone well and you're back home. Take care and get some rest xx
  • Hope you aren't feeling too bad. Another thing I did was rinse my mouth out with salt water to help heal & cleanse my "wounds". Just don't swallow - BLEURGHH xxx!!!
  • Up for twonklemum !

  • Hi Ladies,

    Thanks ever so much.

I'm surprised how well I'm doing really. image

I'm not in horrendous pain; more of a bad discomfort because I can't open my jaw properly and, obviously, due to the cuts. :\(

The dentist said 3 of the teeth came out quite easily but he had to drill the bottom right tooth out so that's the most uncomfortable side. image

I've had next to no bleeding (apart from out of my nose after I came out of hospital and bent over to put my boots on)!

All I want to do now is eat a big fat juicy steak!!!

Go ahead and tell me your gory stories...xxx
  • Well.....

I went to a "specialist" clinic not a hospital and had my 2 lower wisdom teeth taken out. Still after a week later my tongue was numb and part of my lower gum was but also had super sensitivity of pain, plus I could not taste anything. After about a month with the same problem the dentist finally told me "oh yes of course this can happen" I was in total shock. I was not warned that this was a possibilty let alone it was permanent.

I have not tasted anything now for over 5 years. It effects me and my family as I cant season things I cook (and sometimes things are not nice for them to eat as I have no idea what I have cooked).

I dont get any enjoyment out of eating. Biscuits and cereal feel like glass in my mouth it is really painful.

I did sue for gross negligence, but it does not help me and there is not likely to be any medical breakthough in nerve joining up and the 2 ends by now may have grown right past each other with out joining (I did have corrective surgery but it did not work). The dentist had cut through my lingual nerve and did not even realise it.

So ladies... always if you have to have it done have it at a proper hospital.
I believe you now sign a consent form and the risks are spelt out to you.

    xx

  • OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Hon, that's awful!

Everything was fully explained to me before I agreed to having the operation - including the fact that there was a chance (albeit small) of permanant loss of sensation in the area.

I can't say enough how good a job they did for me and how the hospital staff made my experience a relaxed one.
