Twitching/jerking movements *Updated at bottom*
in Baby
Our lo is almost 7 1/2 months. We've noticed that she seems to be making twitching/jerking movements-mainly with her head, almost nodding/shaking it, and sometimes shrugging one shoulder. I'm not sure if these movements are voluntary or not, but it certainly doesn't look like a fit. I would almost describe it as a 'tick', almost tourettes style, from the little I know about it. It seems to be mainly when she's tired, or eating.
She seems to be generally unco-ordinated in her movements too. She can sit unaided, but not for very long without over balancing. She has been crawling for a couple of weeks, and her movements are jerky, almost like a dancing chameleon! I realise that they have to gain control & co-ordination over time, so I'm not too concerned about this, I just wondered if they were related?
I feel that I should add that she is 'normal' in every other sense of the word, language and reaching milestones etc. Hubby & I were thinking of taking her to the GP to mention this, as we are concerned that it is not normal. Whilst we don't want to seem like neurotic first time parents, it does concern us.
I was wondering if any of you ladies have experience of this, or can reassure us that this is just normal development, and that she just needs more time to gain co-ordination. Any advice/experiences welcome. Thanks in advance.xx

if you're worried just go to docs hun, they're paid to make sure their is nothing wrong with us after all! and checking a twitching baby has to be more interesting than seeing neurotic old people every day! lol
No I can't say that he only does it when he's tired, it's much more random I think, although I'm going to take more notice of it now! It is quite disconcerting though, he does it most when he's sat down (which is where he spends most of his time) and although it seems to throw him off balance, he doesn't tend to fall over. Mind he is very steady as he's been able to sit unaided for 2 months now. Will be eagerly awaiting your update, good luck xx
She said it would be a good idea to record it on a mobile phone if and when it happens again so we could show them. Just got to call & make the appointment now xx

My baby has been doing this for a while, not every day just randomly but some days are worse then others. Is there update from the paed appointment as I'm starting to get really worried there's something wrong with her and the dr just keeps telling me she's fine... Pls help
I just noticed today that my LO started twitching while he ate. I didn't think much of it at first, and thought maybe he was just uncomfortable. He didn't do it long and he didn't seem like he was in pain. He kinda of squinted his eyes little bit and that seened abnormal but he stopped doing it when the twitches stopped. He did it a few times throughout the day and I thought it was kind of weird, but I'm not TOO worried yet. He also did it tonight when he was super tired and cranky, but again it wasn't long maybe a whole 5 seconds and he was done. This is normal baby spasm, right? He's also 7 months and 3 weeks. Around the same age as all the forums I look up about baby twitches.
