How Do You Know When Baby Has Emptied One Boob ?

Its all in the title really - how do you know when baby has emptied one boob ? DS cluster feeds in the evening but I don't know if he is actually getting any milk as I don't know if/when he as emptied me ... or if/when I need to change to the other side ...

Can anyone help ?

  • If he's not getting enough milk he'll probably make a fuss. I always gave mine a little squeeze just to make sure it was still coming through x
  • my dd used to cluster feed int he evening, literally for 5 hours at a time! i used to leave her on one boob about an hour to let the other one get some more milk in, then swap her over! by that point, each one would get more milk in and it would also mean my boobs knew to make more for the next day!
she stopped doing it about 8 weeks, and now at 10 months, it all seems so long ago!
