Stranger shares pic of breastfeeding mum on Facebook – and she hits back. Good for her?

Hello

We're wondering what you think about this US mum's reaction to finding out a stranger had shared a picture of her breastfeeding her 10-month-old on Facebook?

Conner Kendall was breastfeeding her baby in a branch of TGI Fridays in Terre Haute, Indiana, when, unknown to her, another diner took her picture (below)and posted it on Facebook, saying:  "I know when a baby is hungry they need fed. I want to know if this is appropriate or inappropriate as I'm trying to eat my Fridays, there are little kids around. I understand feeding in public but could you at least cover your boob up?!"

Conner saw the post later when someone posted a screengrab of it on a Facebook group she belongs to. And she says she was horrified.

She replied to his post, saying, "It is my right to feed my son any way I see fit, wherever I see fit" and "I get that you felt uncomfortable looking at my breasts. Here is a novel idea: don't look at them."

The man then sent her an apology in a private, says Conner, and deleted his post. But her has, apparently, reposted it twice since.

What do you think of Conner's response? How would you have felt if a stranger had taken a picture of you breastfeeding and put it on Facebook?

Do please add a post to this thread to let us know your thoughts!

  • Well for a start it's completely illegal to take and post pictures of someone without their permission, but good on her for standing her ground. I'm all for feeding a baby wherever, at the end of the day we are lucky that in the UK it's illegal to discriminate against any breastfeeding mother or ask them to stop or cover up.

This woman isn't flashing anyone, she's just trying to feed her hungry baby. Good on her.

What a sad, shallow life that person who posted the picture must have. Pitiful
