Please help!
Baby is only a few days old, but she's almost impossiblie to wake in the day for feeds - and tonight she has fed since 7pm, and it's now 5am. Surely 10 hours is too long? She will sometimes fall asleep on the boob, and I'll leave her a minute, detach and wait for her to go into a deeper sleep, but then she never goes more than 5 minutes before starting to root and then cry.
She was born via emergency c section after placenta was failing and she was measuring 5 weeks behind. So I understand she may feed more now?
Please, any advice? Help? I want to carry on breast feeding but it seems like a much better option to give a hungry baby formula and share the load of feeding between my OH and I?

Sorry your having a difficult time! This is exactly why I gave up breastfeeding my 1st, he would feed for hour and half a time at night every 2 hours... So I didn't get much sleep at night. Then during the day he would just top himself up between naps for only 5 min feeds. Sound similar? I decided to top him up with formula and breast feed.... Big mistake! Josh stopped latching and my boobs turned into hard extreamly painful balls and I ended up with mastitis. Sooo as people keep telling me you have to push on and it gets better, but that's your choice. I ended up bottle feeding then missed the closeness a week later and craved breastfeeding lol
i fully intend on fighting through the sleepless nights and try my best to do it when this little one is born. But I won't beat myself up if I change my mind, and neither should you
do what's best for you and your family, there's no right or wrong way to breastfeed. You will both settle into a patten but I think that takes time xx
