just wondering

Hi i had my 1st in oct 07 then before i went back to work i found out i was pragnant i had my 2nd march 09 i was just wondering if i was pregnant again when i return to work in feb or pretty soon after can they refuse to pay maternity pay?also i heard companies can refuse to pay maternity after your 3rd is that true?thanks Lin

  • no - this counts as continuous service as you are employed by the company throughout your maternity leave.
the company are obliged to pay you the minimum statutory pay which is paid by the govenment and then they top up their contribution. if they pay above and beyond the set requirement then i guess its at their discretion and in accordance with your contract what they pay you.
this is how i've always understood it to be anyway. try the government website, good luck!
