  • The latest you can tell your work you are preg is 25 weeks and i think you have to give minimum 4 weks notice of mat leave intended start date. I requested a meeting with my HR dept to put my flexible working request in when lo was about 5 months and i took the full year off work so i knew well in advance that when i went back i was only working 4 days a week, not 5. I think you can leave the flex work request until quite late but if you know what you want, i say get it organisd ASAP - less worrying about what if they say no etc.
  • Hi. You need to inform your employer you are pregnant by the 15th week before your baby is due and when you want to start maternity leave. It's best to do this in writing. You can change the date but must give 28 days notice. Look on the direct.gov.com website for all maternity leave details.
A request for flexible working may take up to six weeks for your employer to reach a decision. So do it in good time.

    Hope this helps Yvette x
