  • Hi

I put my first pregnancy down to accupuncture, but sadly it ended in m/c. 18 months on I'm still going... so yes it does work but don't expect miracles... I've a lovely accupuncturist - it's nice to talk to someone who completely understands what you're going through, can bat ideas off etc and she's really dedicated to helping me and looking at different things to try.

Hope it works quickly for you.
  • Hi Bleurgh, thank you for your response. Seems this PCOS board is very quiet!!!

Sorry to hear about your loss.

Bascially i was diagnosed with PCOS about 11 years ago and was on the pill ever since. came off in August just before our wedding and havent had a period since. Went to the doc in december but he wont refer us until end April. So we decided to give acupuncture a shot. had 2 sessions already and going for my 3rd tonight. having mixed opinions, first week i felt fantastic after it. slept like a baby and some minor problems i had totally disapeared. however since my last appointment last thurs i have been totaly hormonal and down. also having really painful stomach cramps which feel like AF coming - but she never semems to arrive.

    So frustrating!
  • Hi,

After ttc for 18 months and with PCOS, and having cycles ranging from 33 - 60 odd days, I was at the point of "I would try anything", so I went along for acupuncture - First month I went once a week and I had a 28 days cycle!!.. should also point out I was also prescribed clomid at the time of starting acupuncture by the Specialist.

At first I was wondering if I should try acupuncture without the clomid but I was impatient. Roll on three months later I fell pregnant.

I myself believe it was the acupuncture that got me in the right frame of mind and got my body ready, it was not only the treatment we also looked at my diet which was poor, and I was a veggie but I started eating fish.

As I am sure you are aware its not the cheapest so for months 2 and 3 I went once a fortnight.

    Good luck
  • hi hun i wnt for two months my af was cd42 an after a few sessions it come down to 38,36 an 35
  • I have been having regular acupuncture for two months so far. Whilst I am not pregnant yet, it really does help to relax you. It takes me away from worrying about everything for 30 mins a week and just enjoy some me time. I get excited every Wednesday knowing that I have got my appointment that night!
  • Hi Ladies,

Well i finally have my first period since coming off Dianette in August. Also had my 4th accupuncture session on Friday too. I felt the usual tummy cramps mid last week then gradually i started to pass blood clots (Sorry if TMI)this has been happening regularly since Friday (enough to need to wear sanitary towels) but it never seems to develop into a full flow IYKWIM? anyway its a start and i am really happy. I have only been going to the appointments on a weekly basis - so in less than 4 weeks i had some movement! I have another appointment on saturday coming and after that i think i will move to fortnightly as its getting expensive (but a worthwhile expense!).

I am a bit unsure if i should phone the doctors and ask for a day 21 blood test this month (As i am unsure if this is a real period or just my body getting shot of all the stagnant blood that the acupuncturist believes i have)or wait until next month and see if i get a better flow!

I have also ordered my thermometer from ebay today to start temping to see if i can establish any trends in my cycle - now that its here!!

  • Hi Sunshine,

Really pleased you've got something happening! I find it's always a relief when AF arrives (as in I've already done a test so I know I'm not PG) so we can start again - you feel you're in with a chance then!!

Good idea to track temperatures - I've suffered from really long cycles since my miscarriage - 7 weeks is normal without clomid to help - so this has been invaluable in understanding when I'm about to OV, when I have and we can have a break from BD! I've certainly got a trend and can work it out. I'd recommend using a site like fertility friend - it's great for keeping a record and it will show you when it thinks you've ov'd, tho some times it does jump around - for instance today's temp moved ov back two days, but to when I thought it was. U can track all other signs of cm etc.
