Confused advice please!!

Hi ladies , i am new here , I just really need some advise and I don't really have anyone I can ask this type of question. So here goes .... i was spotting straight for about 6days and on the 7th day today I got a really heavy flow of period blood and clotting, which followed by painful cramps. I am 24 and I never normally get spotting infact my period have been quite regular which is why I am now confused. might I consider pregnancy or is this normal and it may well just be a period??? i didn't want to take a test as I am still bleeding so it didn't make sense to me
