Metformin and getting pregnant or weight loss

Hi there, first time poster. I have Antiphospholipid Antibody Sydrome and went and seen a new doctor. She mentioned that I should go on Metformin but I dont have PCOS and diabetes. Has anyone had success with: 
1. Getting pregnant on Metformin 
Or
 2. Lost weight whilst on this drug.

    My nan uses metformin for type 2 diabetes and the weight just fell off her. 

    Doctor has told me it can help with both.
