When I started weaning my son, I sat him on my lap. I started of with baby rice so was not messy. But when I started him on meals I sat him in his highchair. I.brought the highchair when he was 4 months old and I would sit him in it while I was cooking in the kitchen, this got him used to the highchair. I decided that I didn't want him to experience two new things at once- highchair and feeding.
