Clamping down when BFing - ouch!

Hi ladies,

My 10-week old has started doing this at the end of most feeds and it HURTS! Has anyone else had this? Do you know why it happens/if there is any way I can stop it??

Thanks,

  • Lyvi started doing this a few months ago when her gums started hurting (but still no teeth!) and I agree, it hurts SOOOO much!!

10 weeks might be a bit early for actual teething but her teeth may well be moving around in there. If you think it might be her gums you could try a bit of teething gel about 10 mins before feeding her.

I dread to think what it'll be like once they actually have teeth!

  • Thanks hon, I was looking at his gums (he is a he - I know he looks very feminine in my avatar!!) and on the bottom ones you can see some white - really hope it is just my over-active imagination, poor baby...we are seeing the HV tomorrow for baby massage so will get her to have a look!
