What did he mean ?

Yay it's Friday and a bank holiday let's hope the weather stay's nice !!!

I was wandering if anyone could help me well advise me ??

I had a 31 week growth scan last Monday where I was told my baby boy had a big belly and was measuring big that day but not so big he was off the scale or to cause concern but enough for diet advise to be given.

Since I hit about 20 weeks I suddenly hit an addiction to chocolate and cake and well anything sweet image which is realy out of character. My specialist who I seen after the scan advised me to cut it out completly but not to stress nyself out about it to much, the thing is I have found it realy, realy hard and although I have cut it down I havent quite yet managed to cut it out !!

So can my eating habbits cause any danger to my unborn son I try to eat plenty of fruit and normally allow 1 take-away a week if that and thats normally becos its a weekend like most people do !!! I wouldnt say I over eat except some days where im feeling a little more hungry than norm, but have never eaten for 2 just maybe a larger meal for a slightly larger appetite, its realy played on my mind since I was told I could be expecting a large baby, and just want to be reasured that im not harming my baby in anyway by what I am eating ???

  • Hi Strawb.

My Midwife came to see me on Tuesday (I was 13 weeks that day) and she said I really have to watch my BMI and that eating chocolate will make a fat baby. She said that if you are overweight and eat too many naughty things, baby can over gain fat stores and end up being born overweight!?

I never knew this and have since been good as gold! I've had a bit of a row with DH about it, see topic link below.

Another forum member said the fat baby thing is a load of rubbish, so I'm still not sure?

Like we don't have enough to worry and feel guilty about!! x
  • I've actually heard that you're more likely to have a bigger baby if you eat more fruit & veg, as the baby gets more nutrients from that. Baby doesn't really get anything from chocolate and cake etc, so I can't imagine it would affect their growth.

If it is the case though, I'm going to end up with a small elephant baby with the amount of chocolate I've been eating!!

Yikes! My craving is fruit & veg....:lol:

StrawberryG - I wouldn't take too much on board or worry, as long as you are being healthy, the odd treat wouldn't harm your baby x
