Hi Girls & Guys

First time on here and not to sure what I'm doing but here goes image

I'm 23 yrs old and my partner is 27. We've been trying to conceive naturally for over a year now but no such luck as of yet.

I've been diagnosed with PCOS Oct 2010 ish, have VERY irregular periods so much so that I've only had 2 in the last year. I've recently had laparoscopy, dye and ovarian drilling in May 2011 - very painful afterwards and yet still no return of my period. image And I've now some more blood tests which I get the results for on Friday, but not to sure what happens next...

Has anyone been in a similar situation at all and can shed any light or any tips for conceiving?

Much appreciated and look forward to your replies xxXxx

  • Hey hun. Sorry no advice but just wanted to say that you are not alone. We have been trying for 11 months now and only had 2 periods in that time. I also have pcos, but despite that they have only just agreed to refer us. Hubs is waiting on sperm results back at the moment. Seems like you are further down the testing route than us- did they refer you quite quickly then? Ps I'm 25.
  • Hello, I too suffer from irregular periods about 60-70 days between each one. I had a mc last June and been ttc ever since with no luck. I saw a consultant who diagnosed mild pcos and prescribed clomid to make me ov. Im on my second cycle of clomid and my last cycle was 29 so it had worked. Why don't you ask your doc aboout clomid as youu obviously don't ovulate regularly. Good luck i hope you get to the bottom of it. If its any consolation I do know a number of people who have pcos and go on to have babies so keep positive xxxx
  • Hello,

Sorry to hear you are in this situation, I know how frustrating it is. I have PCOS, and was having very irregular cycles of over 80 days. Do you have any weight to lose? I found the best thing I did to get my cycles shorter and shorter was to go on a PCOS diet, so low GI foods like brown rice and pasta, I lost a couple of stone and I also started going to the gym 3 times a week. I think eating the right foods and exercising really help even if you dont have weight to lose, as PCOS is all about insulin resistance. I also took vitamin B6 and soya isoflavones. I managed to get pregnant naturally, even though my hubby also has low sperm count and poor mobility, and we had just been told by the fertility specialist that because of my hubbys results, we would need IVF. I think the next step for you would definitely be clomid to help you ovulate, as I think this is probably what we would have done next if hubby hadn't had a problem.

Well I have sort of rambled on, but wanted to give you a bit of hope as I remember feeling like it would never happen, and I used to worry about carrying a baby to term if I did get pregnant too. I wish you all the luck in the world, and hope it happens for you soon X
  • Heya hun

I can't really offer much advice as i am a few stages behind you, i am currently waiting for appt for lap and dye and ovarian drilling. Have they not tried you on Clmoid i would have thought they would try that.

They tried clomid before anything else with me. After having bloods etc done.

Unfortunately as i am still trying i have no useful tips!!
