Does anyone feel the baby move?

Hi ladies, out of curiosity, have you felt the first movements? I felt the fluttering a few times (I think) and then on Sun I felt a few kicks, one of them so strong I couldn't mistake it for anything else, but nothing since then? image I'm 16+3 and it's my first, so I thought it was too early for kicks.

  • Hi JollyJoey - I am 17+4 today and am feeling movements. I had some strong kicks last week which really surprised me, but nothing quiet so strong since. This is earlier than last time, I was 18 weeks exactly when I felt some flutterings with DD.

At this stage baby still has lots of room to move around, so figures that some days you will feel more than others. I noticed yesterday for the first day I felt movements about 4 times during the day. Before that it had just tended to be when I went to bed and was lying nice and quiet.

It's a lovely feeling and even better when they're strong enough for OH to feel too! x

  • Thanks MrsT04, I haven't felt kicks since Sunday. But I saw midwife yesterday and she said it's normal, the movements are not regular at first and probably I just don't recognise the weaker flutterings which happen. I can't wait for when they're strong enough for hubby to feel! x

  • I'm 17+4 and I've felt flutters since 15 weeks but last night I felt my first few kicks! It was a completely different feeling to the initial flutters and shocked me as I was dozing in bed when it happened! Then it continued for 15 minutes or so, I think I may have felt it earlier as I'm quite slim, but I can't wait for it to be a regular occurrence! image
  • Hi Alex, it's amazing, isn't it? The best thing is, my hubby felt them as well for the first time yesterday, they're strong enough nowimage And it was his birthday, we said it was a present from the babyimage

  • I'm 30 weeks today. I have an anterior placenta which apparently means I haven't felt much up to now, I THINK I feel her (yup a girl!!) moving a lot more now, little flutters, some popping that actually hurts occasionally. But I dismiss some of it, I doubt myself. But on all checkups so far things have been normal, so I keep that in mind when other people say how much they see or feel their baby move and I haven't.

  • Hello Lise, I too have an anterior placenta and it does cover some of the movements and at my scans he was kicking hell out of it! You may just have a calmer baby and she is comfortable in whichever position she lays in. My little man is now going so hard at my lady bits its like he is trying to dig his way out! Don't spare another thought on worrying about it!

Thanks for the kind words! You are right, at my scans she is so active, never sits still so that is a good thing. Maybe it will take a few more weeks for my doubts to fade away. I keep trying to count the kicks but some of them I think "was that a kick or movement or was it just my stomach telling me I need to eat" lol

  • As long as you have 10 movements a day then thats fine, now movements are kicks, swishy movements or you can just feel her. Whats funny about what you said that really made me smile is that in a few weeks you will be giving birth to her!

Yup 10 weeks to go. I have been diagnosed with Cholestasis so I'm not sure whether they will want me to go into labor earlier, fingers crossed they don't. I'm getting nervous but excited! image

  • Saw a specialist, she also says it's Cholestasis. They want me to deliver early at 37 weeks, I'm gutted!
