Well it's a way to express their frustrations. Just always make sure when they throw a fit, the environment is safe and they can't hurt themselves..
My sons tantrums eased down after he reached reception although the tantrums were soon replaced with night terror. Luckily all is resolved now and he is enjoying school and getting appropriate sleep.
