What did your babies wear, can you flash please? Boys in particular, and where do I look to find an outfit?

  • E's was a bit girly (it had flowers on it) I'm looking for M as we hope to get him baptised soon- http://lollipops247.co.uk/

  • Do you have any specialist shops near you that sell baptism outfits for children? N wore the family gown so a bit girly but he was only five months (albeit a huge baby!) and he looked really sweet. I had lots of nice comments about him in it.

  • R's first birthday and christening were joint so had jeans and a smart shirt and top, would show a pic but my phone will not let me :(

  • this is aaron in his gown

  • Gah! I posted a pic of E's sailor suit on a similar thread recently but i've deleted the pic now. It was from daisykaties.co.uk by emile et rose x

  • C had a white silk romper with a matching silk tail jacket it was lovely

  • Luke wore a white linen top/trouser suit from Next. I've flashed it loads so won't bore everyone again.

  • Now can i ask do you all have faith?  This is not an inflamatory question it is merely me being nosey.  I am a Catholic, however, not a practising one and Kat has no religion at all.  We have not even discussed getting S christened, but it has been mentioned heaps to us by family and obviously want to make the right decision.  Thanks

  • Cute gowns! Vikster - we aren't religious so will be looking into a Naming Ceremony for our baby as I still want to have 'something'.

  • A wore a Sarah Louise romper and hat.

We had a Naming Day instead, at the register office where we were married. I'm c of e but H doesn't believe at all so we've gone down the non religious route for everything! xx

  • What is a naming ceremony and what is its purpose?

  • It's like a 'welcome to the world' celebration. You can get a registrar to conduct a service or just do it yourselves. You can have Supporting Adults make promises etc like Godparents.

  • Vik- we are in the same position. I am a Catholic but not a practising and H has no religion. It seems that the majority of my family and some friends just presume we will have our baby christened. I think some eyebrows will be raised when we tell them this won't be the case. I think a Naming Ceremony like BumpEnvy suggested might be the perfect solution.

  • H is a Catholic, his family very religious (particularly dad and grandad) so it was important to them for E to be Baptised. I was more than happy to go along with it as I think it is nice to have a faith and beliefs.

It's a secular way to welcome your LO into the family and celebrate their safe arrival. You can nominate supporting adults (secular godparents) and our ceremony also recognised the grandparents. We had readings, talked about choosing E's names, made promises to him and then we all signed a certificate to keep. It has no legal standing, but meant a great deal to us xx

  • Aaah i see, so its done at the register office, or can it be done anywhere (similar to a civil ceremony like a hotel etc?)

Also a great way to have a knees up Laugh

You can do it anywhere, in your own garden or wherever, you don't need to have a registrar we just chose that as it was the same room and registrar who married us. It's totally up to you to decide the content and how formal you want it as it's not a legal ceremony x

  • Zoe had a very traditional gown so probably not much point posting it.  Will be using it for Noodles too.

  • C wore a cream silk gown, from BHS of all places.

I'm not religious AT ALL, but it was important to my Mum. I wasn't fussed either way TBH.
