I can't get my 1 year old to sleep
Hi,
I have a 12 month old girl who is not sleeping through the night.
She was born in Australia and after 7 weeks was sleeping 10-12hrs every night.
When she was 3 months old we moved countries and she hasn't slept a whole night since.
While we were in Australia she had her own room, but now we are in a tiny one bedroom house and her cot is right next to mine and my partners bed.
I want to use the controlled crying method but my partner doesn't.
He thinks that it will traumatize her and he doesn't want to be woken up at night because he is working full time.
I am also working full time and training for an event.
My partner will never get up for our daughter during the night.
I don't know what to do.
PLEASE HELP!!

Hi!
i used the controlled crying method with both of my sons and they are by no means traumatised by it! They both sleep very well and self settle back to sleep whenever they wake up (unless they're not well then it all goes out the window lol)
I understand that your other half may not want to be disturbed but he needs to realise that your LO needs a good night sleep just at much as you both do! I think it's unfair that he's not getting up from time to time to help you considering you are both working full time. Probably would be a good idea to speak to him about this.
I would definitely do the controlled crying. It has worked for me. I did it with my eldest (now 6) when he was 2 and going into his own room and with my youngest (now 19 months) at around 6months. A week of perservering and they soon slept as soon as they were in bed. Routine is key, though. Same time every night and whatever else you do to wind down.
It's hard I'm not going to lie (hated having to let them cry it out) but a good night sleep is worth it for all of us in the long run!
Good luck!
