Which spelling?

I want to name my son Louis (Loo-ee) but am considering spelling it Louie to save on the confusion of pronunciation even though I prefer the first spelling, I feel it's more traditional. I don't want him to spend his life being called Loo-is! Even though I am aware that Louis can be pronounced Loo-ee & Loo-is I want to make sure I make the right decision! 

Which spelling do people prefer & what do you suggest?
