Just started using opk's but I'm really confused they don't get dark I only get faint lines why is this happening?

I have hate opk sticks. My doctor told me don't use them, charting your basal body temperature and having sex every two to three days is much more accurate. If you never ever get dark lines though, perhaps get a blood test to check if you ovulate or not.
