how to know if im having implantation bleeding?

this is my first month off the pill since may 2014. last cycle was january 4/5 2017. i started bleeding today and cant tell if its my menstrual cycle or implantation bleeding.  I also have cramping all day. it started out pink and its changing to more of a red color. opinion please? (I've never experienced IB'ing with my first)
