I like the sound of this, I like to think I'd do quite well as a stay at home dad for a few months! Might also be nice for the little one(s) to have Dad at home some of the time rather than just Mum as is usually the case, a shared influence if you like.
Would be very interesting when it came down to the nitty gritty though, how many men would be willing to take that much time off work if there was a chance it might jeopardise their career - no doubt some employers would take a dim view of it.
Hard to find a negative to this scheme...Finland amongst others are already doing this and I believe the aim is to prevent women from being discriminated against in the workplace because of their biology but to be honest... I would be disinclined to leave my newborn with anyone, including their father... Am I the only one?!
