birth plan

how do you write one and how is it meant to be layed out?

  • it may be different with different hospitals but within my maternity notes file there is a big blank section where i can basically write anything i like in terms of how i want my birth to go. i dont think theres is a "right" way to do it, if you don't have that section within your notes i'd suggest you just write it on paper and put it inside. just basically write down your definate do's and don't wants, eg, if you are adament you want an epidural, write that. if you want to use the birthing pools, write that etc. and you don't even need to have one, i've heard most midwives don't even bother looking at them and you end up having to just tell them what you want! hope this helps
