not pg related, my sister sophie.

Hi all, i just wanted to share my happiness and pride with you. i dont know if any of you remember as ive only mentioned her a couple of times. My sister Sophie? Sophie has Downs and its her 23rd birthday today. Ive just been to her flat to take her come cake and a pressie. and she's been secretly having knitting and crochet lessons from my nan and she's knitted me the most beautiful little cardigan for my boy she is evn going to sew a MOD patch on it cos she knows im a big indie music fan. im so proud of her i could cry. in fact i did get a bit weepy and she called me a weirdo, its just a cardigan. she's made me a crochet flower and attached it to a hair slide too. we then had a big talk about baby and whether he would be like her, i didnt know what to say and she said he's gonna be her best mate whatever and if anyone picks on him she'd get em!
p.s she made me fetch the cake home after one slice cos "it might be alright for me to get fat but she's watching her figure"
xxxx

  • Aww that's really nice of her, what a star. Sounds like she is going to make a wonderful auntie for your lo, no wonder you are so proud!
  • awww thats so sweet, its so nice when you get something from the heart like that, especially when you know how hard she must have worked. I'm a terrible knitter, my MIL tried to teach me and I can cast on but not actually knit anything, let alone follow a pattern!

  • My mum is fab at knitting but hasn't done anything yet... Boo.. I on the other hand am rubbish I always drop stiches and end up with big holes and everything has to be a scalf or a blanket because I can't follow a pattern & my stiches get so tight I can't get them off the knitting needle again.. lol then mum has to come to my rescue before I end up unravelling the whole lot!

So knitting is a pretty classy skill in my eyes & what a thoughtful pressie... I'd LOVE to get something like that! lucky you! xxx
  • i cannot knit to save my life and my nan cant try and teach me without wanting to kill me. Soph is prob the most patient, hardworking genuinely nice person i know. i'll treasure it forever. xxx
