At what age would you let your child have a boyfriend or girlfriend?

  I have never actually gave it much thought as my boys are only little but I think at about 12 they are beginning to form an understanding of boyfriend and girlfriend relationships. I would allow a relationship at 12 but I would make sure my boys understood what a healthy relationship was and what should and should not be expected of them at that age. I dont want my children to grow up too quickly but I also don't want to hold them back any.
