Baby sleeping too much?

I'm just curious about other peoples opinions really. My LO is 19 weeks old - 12 weeks corrected.

He currently sleeps for between 10-12 hours per night but still struggles to stay awake for more than 1.5 hours at a time during the day. Effectively his schedule is this:

6-7am feed
7-8.30am nap
8.30-10am awake / activity time
10am feed
10.15 - 11.30am nap
11.30-1pm awake / activity time
1pm feed
1.15pm - 2.30pm nap
2.30- 4pm awake / activity time
4.15 - 5.30pm nap
6.30pm bath
7pm final feed
7.15-8pm bedtime

So on average he has between 10-12 hours at night and 4-6 hours during the day.

If we deviate from this at all he will scream and generally seem very very tired so I'm sticking with it for now cause it seems like what he needs. However I was curious if people have been in a similar situation and what you did? Would be a cause for concern for you? And just generally what people think overall?

  • Hi

have you tried huckleberry? It’s an app you can log your little ones naps etc to find when is best for naps etc. It’s got information on how long sleeps for so it might be of use.

my little one is a bit younger then your baby so I can’t off any advice. Didn’t want to read and run 🙂
  • Sounds like a growth spurt might be happening. I would say as long as your baby boy is of a good weight, lots of wet nappies, and seems happy and content when awake, enjoy the sleeps while they last - they will eventually stretch out into just a few naps a day, but as everything else seems good, i would go with it.

  • @Larat84 I haven't tried that app no, but I'll look into it.

@Mrsg14 Yep, he seems happy in himself and I've not got any health concerns when he's awake. It just surprises me how much he still naps when he's getting a solid 10-12 hours a night.

It could even be that he's not sleeping as well as I think at night time. Perhaps he's silently waking up and I don't know about it.
