  • Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is a health problem that can affect a woman's menstrual cycle, ability to have children, hormones, heart, blood vessels, and appearance.

    Here i googled the sypmtoms:

Not all women with PCOS share the same symptoms. These are some of the symptoms of PCOS:

infrequent menstrual periods, no menstrual periods, and/or irregular bleeding
infertility (not able to get pregnant) because of not ovulating
increased hair growth on the face, chest, stomach, back, thumbs, or toes????????a condition called hirsutism
    ovarian cysts
    acne, oily skin, or dandruff
weight gain or obesity, usually carrying extra weight around the waist
insulin resistance or type 2 diabetes
    high cholesterol
    high blood pressure
    male-pattern baldness or thinning hair
patches of thickened and dark brown or black skin on the neck, arms, breasts, or thighs
skin tags, or tiny excess flaps of skin in the armpits or neck area
    pelvic pain
anxiety or depression due to appearance and/or infertility
sleep apnea????????excessive snoring and times when breathing stops while asleep

I was getting worried though i think is could be beacuse my body is dying to come on due to missing one??

I think i missed it as well becaue we losta family member then and it hit me very hard.

  • Milly boo - we are seeing the specialist at the beginning of next month.. am thinking we will be prescribed clomid as she has written several times in my notes 'requires ovulation induction'. Some consultants prescribe metformin at eh same time.
Was it your GP that prescribed the metformin ?

  • Hi J-Jenko

It was prescribed by the consultant. I'm supposed to take it 3 times a day but I do have a habit of forgetting. I had an implant for contraception and this was taken out in December which is when I started taking the metformin. I have since had 3 periods consistently at 33 days and the last one at 29 days so it seems to be working x
  • Am throwing lots of luck your way milly boo... does sound like the metformin is doing its stuff...

  • I was diagnosed with PCOS back in November after having no AF's for nearly a year.

I started off on Met and then in March i was given the fertility drug Clomid (50mg). I responded well and scans and bloods tests showed i ovulated for the first time in 14 months. Sadly it was a BFN, but at least my own AF arrived and i am now on my 2nd cycle using clomid.

Happy to help and answer any questions you have.
