Don't know if this is any help to you or if you have already bought your car seat, but I saw this in the M&P catalogue. http://www.mamasandpapas.co.uk/product-244174400/type-i/ It says in the catalogue that it can be used as a travel system with the chameleon and it looks like it fits in the car slightly differently to some other seats so I wondered if it might work in the back of your Smart.

    Thanks Bedhead - our local shop stocked this one so we tried that too and it had the same problem as the maxi-cosi but thanks anyway. We ordered the maxi-cosi in the end because it defo fits in hubby's car and when using my smart the baby will go in the front with the airbag switched off.
