Increased calories when trying to get BFP

A friend told me that many of her friends who've gone to the doctors after trying to get pregnant for a long time were all asked the same question by their doctors: How many calories do you have every day?

Apparently its important to have more than normal as the egg needs more at certain times of the month. All her friends were told to eat more - they were average weight to begin with - but also to exercise more so they don't gain weight. Does anyone know anything about this?
