Why is finding the right pram so hard?!!!

Hi All,

I really need some help. I've been looking at the other posts about Silver Cross and Bugaboos etc etc and I still have no idea what to get!

I really wanted the Silver Cross 3D and all the sales assistants would recommend it but looking at a number of reviews many people have said the mechanism has gone and it's not worth the money...and so on. So I looked at a Bugaboo but as space is limited where we live we couldn't do with having a seperate chassis. I've heard the Graco Cleo comes close to a 3D but can't find a shop that stocks it local to us.

So I'm stuck. I know what I don't want in a pram:
3-wheels
pumped tyres

And ideally want I do want is ease of putting up (preferably one-hand) and similar looking to a 3D.

Please has anyone got any suggestions???

GP xx :\?

  • Hiya,
I have the mamas and papas pliko p3 travel system and its also available as a pramette which looks similar to the 3d.

I think its a great pushchair its light easy to push, easy to unfold and it folds up really compact as well, my sister also has one and said it lasted her until her lo was walking so definately value for money. She's never had any probs with it, i've been usin mine for 7 weeks and not had ne prbs so far

    Hope this helps

  • Consider these factors: -

    (1) Whether you need to go off road.
    (2) Whether you use public transport a lot.
    (3) Boot space if you have a car.
    (4) Handle height of you/partner are particularly tall/short

  • We bought the mothercare atlan travel system - it wasn't expensive but it did the job for 6 months. It folds down reasonably well and stands up ok on its own folded. It was manouverable, good height for both me and hubby and fit in our car boot (we have an escort, but the pram has also fit in my mums polo boot). Worked out that it only cost about ??40 or so more for the travel system than to just buy a rear facing car seat so that was our main reason for buying it. We were originally going to just get an 0-4 car seat but I must admit its handy having the travel system even though we don't use it much.

I'm glad we didn't spend much as we now have a silver cross pop which takes up much less space and is nice and light. I read so many posts from people on here saying how they switched to a lightweight stroller from 6 months and that kinda made me think about how much to spend. Once Cole is out of his rear facing seat (won't be long!) then we'll probably never use the pram again till the next baby!

Also glad we didn't bother paying extra for a pram with a carrycot as we started having cole slightly sat up when he was about 12 weeks as he was nosy and liked to see where he was going!

    Hope that helps image
  • I wouldn't recommend the 3d. As much as I still love it the chassis is starting to bend and I dunno how long it will be before it actually can't go up anymore. It's my own fault for putting a bag on the handles but who doesnt do that and what use is a pram where you can't?

The mamas and papas pliko is the next most similar to the 3d and yeah the cleo looks good too. Have you looked at the m&p luna? It has a carrycot that just sits on top so it has the same function as a 3d although it looks slightly different. I have the luna (but not the carrycot) and it is very easy to fold and put up (only requires that you release one clip and it's up). It is wider but flatter in the boot than the 3d and you can put a m&p car seat on it with the correct adaptors.
