cough medicine for 13month old

Tegan has got a cold and is constantly coughing and is generally unwell. can you medicine for a cough at such a young age and where would i be able to get it from? xxx

    To be honest when Kara was in hospital last week with Diabetes I mentioned her cough and the Paediatrician said that they don't give children cough medicines because there is no evidence that they work. They just say to let it run its course. I know a bit unhelpful to you but if you are in doubt I would ask the pharmacist for information. I remember getting Simple Linctus for Kara a while back and thought it worked quite well.
