Going back to work by choice
in Baby
Hi girls,
Just curious to know if anyone has or is planning to go back to work not just for the money?? What i mean is, financially, although it would be tough its not essential for me to go back to work but i really am thinking of finding a part time job for my own interests and because i think it would be good for Callum. Just wondering if anyone else feels this way or whether i m a bad mummy for wanting to do something else as well. I'm only thinking 20 hours a week and i think it would be good for him to be able to play without getting bored at home with me cos i've got housework to do.
Would you work if you didn't have to....????:\?

So no I don't think your a bad mummy. In fact if it would make you feel better by working then I think that would make you a better mummy. As long as LO is happy to while your away. x

YES- I'd def work even if I didn't need to. I crave intelligent conversation and have even been into work most weeks since I started my mat leave !! I am soooo sad....
I think it's nice to have a bit of independence too and would hate being totally reliant on my OH even if he earned mega bucks.
For me it was really important to get back, partly as I work in Mortgages and so with the recession I have to really show commitment in order to secure my job but also because I missed talking about anything other than babies and needed more mental stimulation. I work with mainly men so there is very little baby talk at work, lol.
My mum was a single parent and she always worked so to me it is what mums do, I was always really surprised when friends mums didnt work when we were younger as kids you tend to assume that your way is the only way. Its working really well for us, I enjoy Nathan more and he loves nursery.
So no, I dont think it makes you a bad mum, we all do what makes us happier as we're better mummies when we're happy! ) .
