Big Day tomorrow - ENT and OC

well, tomorrow we have Ollie's follow up ENT appointment, been booked for 3 months and were pretty certain that he'll have to have an op to remove his tonsils/adenoids and possibly put gromits in - since he last saw the ENT he's had tonsilitis twice, and the antibiotics that we were told he could have he's now practically immune to so they dont help... he also isnt talking anymore than he was last time they saw him and they said they'd give him 3 months to see if he started to talk or not....
So we might have an op to arrange for Ollie....

and I get my results back from the tests they did on monday for OC - they said depending on the results depends on if they bring my c sec date forward - worst case scenario being tomorrow (as I'll be 38 weeks), possibly the end of the week... the MW also said that if the tests came back neg it was good, but considering the tightenings i have been having she didnt think we'd last till the 31st, and would possibly see Missy before then...

part of me wants her to arrive early so she might be a smaller more 'normal' weight (she was estimated at 8lbs already on monday) and also because the itching is unbearable - i cut off all my nails as i was scratching without knowing and hurting myself, I've tried all sorts of creams to ease it and nothing works - a cold shower helps for about 10 mins but then its back again.
the other part of me wants her to stay put until the 31st as it works out better timing wise (and she's closer to 40 weeks then) as we've got Ollie booked into nursery and have arranged for which people on which days etc....

So it could be a true case of the poo hits the blower tomorrow or it could all be ok...
Ah well, we'll just have to wait and see! image Am more concerned about Ollie's op and when they're going to schedule that in if he needs it.....

xxx

  • All the best of luck, fingers crossed it goes well for Ollie!
As for you & the itching-stop it!!! Do what phoebe in friends did & tape oven gloves on lol.
Good luck & I hope it all works out for the best for the 4 of you image xoxo
  • Good luck for tomorrow to both you and Ollie. Hope everything works out for you both for different reasons.
  • we've seen Ollie's ENT specialist, and they did all the necessary checks and tests and the conclusion is that he will need an operation to remove his tonsils and adenoids, and to put gromits in. (I told them this 3 months ago!)
they think they will be able to get him in at some point in April to make it easier as OH already has time off then and it wouldnt take too much organising...
It will be difficult with missy only being 3/4 weeks old, so we will prob have grandparents up to help us out - OH will have to be at hospital with Ollie, and I dont know if i'll be able to be there yet or not.
At least he will have it done whilst he is young enough to forget the pain faster, and it should sort out his talking as well - if not then we start to look at other reason like autism (the ent doesnt think he has this so thats good!)

One thing sorted today, but still no word on my results yet.

  • How stressful for you. I had my tonsils and adenoids out at the same time, and gromits put in too (i had glue ear). I'm sure he will be absolutely fine though, he sounds like a tough cookie! x
  • hey,

glad your getting wht you want where Ollie is concerned. Glue ear can often be the cause of autism like behavior/speech problems, so fingers crossed for you that the op goes ahead in april and everthing gets better from then on.

Will keep an eye out for another update, fingers croseed that your happy with the results, either way atleast your due date is not that far away now.....
