completely o/t - acrylic nails

Hey girls, i've got a voucher for a beauty treatment so was thinking of having acrylics done. had them done years ago and they were lovely but just wondered if any of you have them and how baby friendly they are? might be a silly question but don't want to waste my voucher if they're not gonna be very practical.xx

  • i would have them done , just dont get them too long x and watch out for getting poo behind them
  • I used to have them done regularly too, but since having a baby, not really been practical for me. My nails are terrible, atm. They're so short and snap off when getting the car seats in and out and putting pram up and down!

If you did have them done, they probably won't last long...with washing babies stuff.

And they might scratch the baby too.
  • I used to have them but can't afford the up keep anymore, they were costing me ??20 every two weeks to have them filled in, so if you can afford that have them done but if you can't i'd say it would be a waste of money as you'll just have to wait for them to come off and your nails will be like paper under neath.

I'd go for a nice manicure / pedicure instead, or a nice massage
  • Hi acrylic nails are stronger than gel and fibreglass so they're the best ones to have. Just don't get them too long and keep the tips round or squoval and they should be fine.

I used to do nails and I think even if you try your hardest they never last that long. I think they're worthwile for a special occasion, otherwise you have to get them infilled every couple of weeks.

  • They look lovely and if you keep them short are no less practical as your own nails but acrylics don't half leave your own nails in a state, wafer thin and bendy! Gel nails aren't quite as strong (but still strong!) and won't leave your natural nails in such a state, i would definitly recommend them x

Do you separate between counterfeit nails that are over a particular length, or do you request that staff keep their own nails cut off as well?

Furthermore, do you separate between counterfeit nails purchased in a shop that are applied with stick and are brief, and those that are applied by a nail specialist in a nail bar and are pretty much long-lasting?
  • I have 13-56 strings on a busking guitar and they are tearing my fingernails up. I was pondering going to a nail bar and have them placed on some acrylic nails.

Anybody attempted this? Does it work for you? How long do they endure? Simply tumble off or come free?

Stuff like that, truth be told... much valued ahead of time.

A plectrum is a small piece of either plastic or metal which is using for picking the strings on a guitar. Most players prefer to use them as it saves tearing their fingernails check on it Glamgossiper.
