  • Hey Rubyshoes,

My PPA day today ( i get a ull day off at home every other week!) so thought id have a quick catch up on here before i start with my work.

Agnus Cactus is a herbal extract that can help with hormone imbalances. The extract acts on the pituitary gland to balance hormonal fluctuations, so is helpful in the treatment of a wide range of disorders, inlcuding PMS, painful periods, polycystic ovaries and some other causes of infertility, It's been known to regulate the LP and some take it to promote ovulation.

I've actually got some but now sure whether I can just start taking it without having an af first? Any ideas hope? Mind you, if i'm not even starting to ovulate it may help me to get the ball rolling??

I'm off to the doctors this afternoon about lack of af. I know Im probably just going to be told to go away but i though if i went now, it'd be on my medical records for next time and they might take me a bit more seriously in another couple of weeks if they've already seen me once already? (although clutching and straws comes to mind here. ha ha)

I'll let you know how I get on anyway. xxx
  • infact, screw it...iv just taken some AC! ha ha. xxx
  • Ha ha ha thanks Sally!!

I have just replied to your other thread as well.

I am very jealous of your PPA - although I bet the week inbetween really sucks, I love my job but I also LOVE my PPA!

  • Me too! The Teachers in my school are always on PPA countdown image You get sooooo much sorted at home though. I dont know what I'd do without it now. Just had my other dose of AC. I read on another forum that a lady got to CD91 without ovulating so started taking AC and she got her period just over 2 weeks later! I felt truely inspired to start taking mine! I asked the doctor about it today too. She said just to be careful but she couldnt really comment as she didnt know much about it. It's given me a really gurgley tummy though??!

You excited about the christmas run up at school? Im way excited, Where abouts do you like RS? xx
  • oops, meant live!x
  • I think I might get some-I'll try anything to get this started!!

Yes I can't wait for Xmas love it especially at school even though it's a super busy time!

I live in county Durham-how about you?

    It's my PPA tomoro aft-yey!!

  • Thanks for the explanation Sally, I wasn't sure what AC was myself either but a few people had suggested it. I'd give anything a go at the moment! I even had an accupuncture tester needle last week but I'm not sure I can pluck up the courage.

The AC doesn't seem to be doing much for me so far- I've been on it for about a week. I think it's giving me a but more peace of mind though knowing I'm actually doing something but whether it works or not is another story. I've felt a bit sickly at times but I'm not sure whether it's because of it.

I think it was a good idea to go the docs. I'm booked in for myself next fweek and I'm going to be assertive this time!

I love the idea of a whole PPA day!
  • Hi there - been going crazy over lack of AF and would love to join your group - please, please, please!!

I'm a teacher too (I think there's gotta be something in it....) and today is CD92 - it's just sooooooo frustrating, isn't it?!

How long have you guys been waiting now?

I just feel so jealous of women who have days to count and a cycle to monitor. I have a cupboard full of OPKs, PG Tests and a box of Pre-Seed which I have no idea when to use - it's doing my head in!!

Spent half term constantly on computer doing 'research' in between my marking etc etc etc.... I've found that most women regain some kind of cycle within a month of coming off the pill and 1% take longer than 3 months so I'm now in the 1% so thought it was time to see the doctor.

Went in half term and saw a woman doctor - totally disappointed by lack of interest. Went for blood test but apparently that's come back normal so what to do next.....?

Looking at herbal supplements, acupuncture, private consultation.....?

Never had a regular cycle in my life - reason for being put on pill when 16 (I'm 28 now). So I'm convinced there's something wrong.....Doctor told me I'd have to wait 18 months before they do anything to help so I feel that going back would be a pointless exercise.

Sorry to go on! But it's good (well it's not but you know what I mean!) to find other people going through the same thing. And all with so much in common too - I got married this year as well!

Well baby dust to us all - I don't mind having no AF if we all get a BFP!!

    H xx

RubyShoes - I'm in Warrington, Cheshire. County Durham's not far from here is it??

Also, got some more advice today. My sis in law came off the pill and went 5 months without her periods coming back. Anyway, spoke to her today as was worried bout mine, and she said that hers came back after she was given the tablets from the doctors that stop your periods. She was going on holiday and, even though she hadnt had one for months, didnt want it showing up on her holiday. She got some medication from the doctor that delays your periods (I've read about it lots on wedding forums as brides didnt want af on big day) and apparently the doctor said that taking it can kickstart your body into ovulating....and low and behold she had her period like 14 days later and is now having 29 day cycles again! If af hasnt arrived before i go back to doctors for blood results, I'm going to mention it to them. It's worth a go hey!

And welcome Mrs Robson. I'm sure you'll feel very welcome in our little group. hee hee. Have you tried AC or anything hun? xxxxxxxxxx
  • Hmmmmmm.... I think it's time to get hold of some of that AC - Ebay here I come! And do you know the name of the anti AF drug....?

My DH is from County Durham (Spennymoor to be exact) and I'm from Swansea but we live in London (for now!).

  • Hi girlies,

So strange Mrs Robson - I live so Close to Spennymoor!!

Welcome to our little group - it;s mad but we're all in the same boat so will help each other along the way.

It's a couple of hours away Sally - my best friend's husband is a Warrington boy as well! It just gets spookier!

That is very interesting about the anti - AF drug too, suppose it makes sense that it could kick start something. I think I might make an appointment with my doc tomorrow - will let you know how I get on!

Friday tomorrow at least, we're off to London this weekend to stay with hubby's cousin and have our last wedding pressie - dinner at The Ivy - I can't wait!

Anyone else got any nice plans?

  • Oh my god you are not going to believe this. Without outing myself (because I'm keeping all of this a secret and only my DH knows) I work in Warrington!!! haha.

It definitely seems to be a teacher thing too!
Mrs R I came off the pill in Feb and have had my withdrawal and have had 1 period since which was in June. I've been to the doctors twice but haven't been sent for a single test yet. I'm going back next week to demand one.

I got the AC from boots. Totally know what you mean, I'm constantly in the chemist buying herbs/tampax/pregnancy tests in the hope something will trigger off AF. I swear the shop assistants most think I'm mad!

Dinner at The Ivy sounds fabulous and hopefully the weekend of pampering might help with the AF/BFP situation or failing that will give you something to take your mind off it all xx

  • It really gets spookier doesn't it?!!

Know what you mean, we're not telling people about this either, I am just hoping none of my friends come on here or they'll clock me straight away!!

Thank you - I am so looking forward to it. Bought a fab new dress from Monsoon on my way home last night so very excited now. Just trying to get all my planning and marking done tonight so I don't even have to think about it this weekend

  • Sounds like a good weekend ahead Ruby (that is soooo one of my girl names!). We're still enjoying some of our wedding gifts - got a London Eye and river boat lunch cruise on the 21st and the balloon ride that I ummed and ahhed about taking all summer in case I was pregnant. Wishful thinking or what?!

Hope - these doctors just don't take things seriously, do they? Been reading that blood tests can only indicate certain things if taken on specific cycle dates so for us lot I don't think it's much use! I got my 'normal' result earlier today. At first you think 'normal', that's good.... But it doesn't explain anything, does it?! They fob us off with 'it's normal' but it's not!!!

Oh well, DH has just got home with my tea x
  • BTW a couple of people on here have said there is a drug called Noristhene (?) or something along that line which can start your period again (I'm assuming it's the same as the one you mentioned). Then I think if you're having periods but not ovulating they can send you to a specialist futher down the line and give you Clomid which is another hormone but that one makes you ovulate x
  • Sneaky post before school...

Hope! Can't believe you work in Warrington! ha ha. Dont think we know each other though as my pic and username give me away! ha ha. Most people know me and hublet are trying though (including a few at school so I'm not worrying about being on here!!)

And RubyShoes and Mrs Robsob - your wedding presents sound LUSH!! We mainly got money from people as we're moving house next week!! Woooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So happy it's Friday today. Anyone doing anything for bonfire night this weekend? I can't seem to find any displays or anything around here image

And i think i'll be doing some googling on 'Noristhene' later. hee hee.

Hope you have a good day girlies...xxxx
  • Yes me too Sally!!

Couldn't get in the docs tonight so will try again on Monday - you never know AF might show up over the weekend

Hope you all have good weekends - we are off first thing tomorrow as before going to The Ivy we're going to see Tottenham vs Sunderland (it'll be a day of 2 extremes!)

Let me know any gossip/new theories in the meantime and happy weekend girls!!

    E x
  • Have an amazing time RubyShoes! I want to hear all about it when you get back!!

    Enjoy your fab weekend. xxxxx
