I have a posterior high placenta and midwife and consultant have now put me on daily blood thinning injections as a precautionary measure until heart results come back in January, they are horrible I hate needles. I know this is a little early as only 22 weeks, but OCD so cant help it but does anyone know what is needed for the hospital bags, I've seen lists online and then everyone I spoke to says different so confused?

Take something comfy for yourself during and after labour. Pads and nipple pads. Outfits for the baby. I Took 4/5. Nappies, wipes. Snacks and drinks for labour. Wash stuff for you, lip balm ( lips get very dry) toothpaste. I brought some extra large freezer bags and labelled them all so my partner knew what to reach for when I asked for it. Worked a charm haha x

Chargers, toiletries (I'm taking mini ones) , warm socks, slippers or flip flops. Car seat for taking baby home (realise that doesn't fit in bag, lol) something to occupy you as can be there for a long time (cards or book?) how about an eye mask to make it darker and easier to sleep? I've been looking at you tube videos.

This sounds silly but look at the outfits your gonna pack for the baby. All newborn stuff is different lengths lol I remember nothing actually fitting my boy I had to send my dad to get premature outfits even though he was 6 days late and a healthy 6lb 9 x

Hey ladies I'm just after abit of advice. I suffered with a stress fracture in my ankle at 39 weeks with my first pregnancy and ended up in a boot with crutches for 6 weeks after delivery due to have a low bone density, and I can already feel my ankle suffering again. It's ok first thing in the morning but after being on it for a few hours I am unable to weightbare, and I dont really know who I should be talking to for advice about this. Do I just wait and speak to the midwife at my next appointment  on the 5th? 🤷‍♀️

Oh bless you! That sounds awful and really tough with your little one.

I would be tempted to see if you could get a GP apt before then so you can get sorted asap. Hopefully someone can refer you to a specialist. I don't know who, maybe a physiotherapist that can help you to strengthen them.

Ouch @NicolaCU have you seen the GP about this? That sounds terribly painful - can an osteo help at all?

My doctors always seem to be on emergency only at the moment so I might see what the midwife says next week as normally you can get an appointment if the midwife refers you. X

Has anyone else found that the ultrasound techs have been not very friendly and lacking in empathy? I've had 4 scans now and all but one have been very business like or chatting among themselves, giving us minimal information.

I've just been in tears after my latest scan, this time with a doctor.

I went in feeling so hopeful and came out so desolate. They have been able to make sure there's no abnormalities. They think it's a girl but can't be sure. I don't know if that's because they can't see or can't be sure with girls. They make it so hard to understand. She also told me it's because I have so many layers to get through. I'm bigger but not huge, size 18-20.

It's hard to explain but they just aren't nice.

@kayleighA only my last  scan was done by someone nice. My 12 week scan was a nightmare and with a trainee and really horrible women. I'm a size 14 and she told me I was too fat also.

@KayleighA that's terrible. Try not to be so down over it. It sounds like you have been very unlucky. Both of mine were really nice and you need that for reassurance because I think scans are a worrying time. Poor you.

@MrsS35 them telling you that you are fat is outrageous. I probably would have started crying. X

@NicolaCU I had to stop myself from punching her in the face. My husband kept me calm. Just had a proper rant about her when we got out. Was most painful scan I've had.

Thanks girls. I think they forget that it's a new and special experience for us even though it's day in day out for them.

It was literally like what does any of this have to do with me? Oh it's only my body and our baby. Just talking around us as if we aren't there.

My husband put a complaint in. I don't really expect anything from it but hopefully they will have a bit of sensitivity training so nobody else has to feel like this.

My 12 week scan was horrendous i ended up reporting her because of how heavy handed and rude she was I was left bruised for 2 weeks after that. The last few scans they were quiet and didnt explain what were seeing on the screen. Today's scan was amazing, he explained everything clearly at what we were seeing and answered all questions we had, he also in depth checked babys brain ventricles (I ask at every scan but they just glance and say brain is okay) as I was worried because of my brain condition (it's not proven hereditary but it's rare so nobody has any idea how its caused), he looked deeply at it and checked fully while explaining which made us feel so much better. I also asked him if he can see the gender clearly this time and luckily they could and showed us that we are definitely having a girl.

You can call the ultrasound appointment line and they will switch you to a different sonographer or make sure you never get scheduled with the ones that are horrible.

    Hey everyone!
Had my midwife appointment today (nearly 24 weeks), little man is all good, HB 152, still have good BP 90/60, she had a feel of my stomach but couldn’t figure out where he was due to my stomach muscles being good/tight, being in the Army obviously helped with that haha! Next check not til 28.5 wks on 2nd Jan. but have my 4D scan to look forward to on Christmas Eve 😊💙 Hope you are all well xx
