  • Hi wannababy. Sorry I missed your question earlier. Contact your local childcare services/local authority and find out about how to become a registered childminder. They will probably invite you to a briefing session and the process will begin after that.
    In terms of promoting yourself - you can do this however you want. Each local authority has a families information service (FIS) and they will keep all registered childminders details - if they want. Parents who make enquiries will be given your contact details. However, you can also, advertise at your local childrens centre (in most cases anyway), at Toddler groups and via your local childminding group if there is one, in your local paper and at your local school (again sometimes).
    ??4 per hour can be the going rate depending on where you live - it can vary from area to area.
