Maternity Wear - NOT in shops

I need a little rant!

I am sure before I was pregnant I saw loads of high street shops that stocked maternity wear. But when I come to want to have a look only one shop (New Look) has any clothes at a reasonable price in that you can try on before you buy. I have looked and asked in Next, Dorothy Perkins, Matalan, M&S and Debenhams, only on-line is the response I get from the sales staff

Does anyone find it annoying that you have to buy on-line and not just walk into a shop?
