Is looking after a 5-year-old harder than looking after a baby?

Hello.

Do you think parenting a 5-year-old is harder than parenting a newborn or a toddler?

Most parents think it is, according to a new survey by Care.com

The year in which their child turns 5 and starts school is when parents face the most difficult problems, the survey findings suggest, featuring issues such as tantrums, answering back and the negative influence of friends – as well as increasing difficulty in fitting childcare around work and school hours.

Compared to all that, 66% of parents surveyed said the challenges of the 'sleepless nights' newborn stage were easy.

But what do you think?

Do you think babies are a cinch to look after? Or frankly quite exhausting?

And how about toddlers? Easy peasy or hard work?

And, if your child's started school, was the first year tough - or a breeze compared to the baby years?

Please do let us know! We'd love to hear your thoughts...

  • I think it all depends on the child in question & also your own personality. Kids in general are exhausting albeit in different ways.

I find looking after a toddler easier then looking after a baby. Might also have something to do with him being our first child. When he was a baby we didn't know what we were doing. (Thank you Google!) Now a few years later, we have more experience and are more confident in our own parenting skills image
