Your child’s school or nursery: is it near a busy road?

Hi everyone,

We’d really like to know if your child’s school or nursery is near a busy road.

The reason we’re asking is because we’ve been alerted to recent government data showing that more than 2000 nurseries and schools are within 150 metres of a road that's busy enough to be emitting illegal levels of nitrogen dioxide pollution from diesel vehicles.

And there’s evidence to show that exposure to these kind of traffic fumes can reduce children’s lung growth and contribute to long-term ill health.

So, we're really interested in finding out how many of you have a child in a school or nursery that's near to a busy road?

(If you’d like to, you can check if your child's school/nursery is near a road emitting illegal levels of nitrogen dioxide on The Guardian’s school checker here)

We’d also like to ask you whether you’re worried by the levels of pollution now being recorded near schools and nurseries – or not?

Do you think diesel cars should be banned? Or perhaps there is something else the government should do?

Please do come and tell us what you think by posting a reply to this thread. We’d love to know your thoughts on this...
