Council house help

wondering if anyone can help, I’ve been bidding on council houses for the last 6 months.. I have Always lived with family so no previous rent arrears or anti social behaviour. I had a call to say I’d been shortlisted for a property but needed a pre tennancy assessment which I had today and went well.. However as the lady was about to leave she told me she would now have to go and do a credit check on me before she can make me a formal offer 😩😩 I know I’ve got really bad credit from when I was younger and wondered if anyone else has been through this and knows if I can be refused for that? please help!
