middle child syndrome
Hi ladies
from reading one of the other threads I saw that some of you are middle children. I just wanted to ask how it affected you? I am the eldest of two so no middle siblings. Out of the 3 of my boys, Isaac is definately the hardest work. Do you think that is because he resents being the middle child? Also when you have 4+ do you have more middle children or does it equel out? I hope you understand what I mean lol.

And now I have three and NO WE DO NOT HAVE TROUBLE WITH MIDDLE CHILD SYNDROME LOL!!!
I have always made the effort to treat my kids the same, never expecting anything more from the eldest or the middle one etc.
I actually feel that my middle dd is so much more settled than my other two at the mo!!!!!!!!!! she is chilled out, kind, friendly, loving etc dont get me wrong she can be a madam but most days she is the best behaved and most of a pleasure!
I can honestly say I dont believe or understand why this middle child syndrome even rares its ugly head as it never has in my house!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Personally I think its just an excuse for the parent/siblings to blame someone for the family politics or domestics/arguments. ( sorry if that offends anyone but its how i feel).
I dont think Issac resents being the middle child as personally I dont think you would even contemplate making him feel like that hun, I have hell with my youngest but she is treated the same as the other two so my point is, its their personality, maybe he is just strong willed or a little more tempremantal like my dd2????
Hope this makes sense, rather difficult to explain really? xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
With my three they are such different people, and for whatever reason my second born is certainly a lot more work. She is so very different from me in some ways I really have to just love her for who she is because I don't understand half the time and feel terrible for that. I think that it would be the same situation even if she was born in a different place in the family, but then maybe having a big sister who is a perfectionist and little sister who is as much of a tomboy as they come is not easy to carve out your own niche. My third is such a gentle sweet little girl, but she has this need to be naughty, er really creative?
I really hope that having number four will balance thins out a little, because there are a lot of playtime activities that they want to do in pairs, and somebody is left out. For now, I can jump in and get a chance to play too. Later though maybe I might not be such a welcome guest into their imaginary world.
