We bought the Jane Slalom pro matrix set with all the extras too, its so beautiful in green and aqua, its parked in the nursery waiting patiently!
i bet you excited about your chair arriving tomorrow, im going through all the instruction manuals and learning how to use the baby monitors and the steriliser units etc, so much to learn!
  • Hi Ingrid
What good news then,i,m really pleased for you and hopefully he will continue to move so he is in the right place at the right time!
Yes i'm really looking forward to my chair arriving tomorrow, hopefully it will be here before 2 because i have offered to go and help out with the schools dress rehersal for the christmas production and it makes it quite difficult if you miss these big parcels.
I think thats a good idea reading all the info for the steriliser, baby monitor etc you can never be prepared enough, are you hoping to feed yourself? I would really like to breastfeed baby so at the moment thats what i'm aiming for and hopefully i will be able to get the help and support i need when baby has been born.
Your pushchair sounds perfect and i'm sure your little one will feel like a little prince being pushed around in it,this was one of the hardest things that we found to choose as there is so many on the market with such different prices and they all do different things!
    Keep up the good work
    Claire x
  • Hey Claire, you are good helping out at the school!
I am also going to breastfeed, but my hubby Nigel really wants to be involved so I will express into bottles so he can do a few feeds! He has been sleeping on the sofa for the past 2 nights as he has a cold/cough and I really dont want to catch it...but this morning im full of it!
What kind of nappy system have you chosen? I'm giving the cotton toweling nappies a go, my friends think im mad but i have got a backup supply of pampers if i find it too much!
Do you work in Witney? I used to live in Eynsham (very close to witney) and do my shopping in Witney.
    Have a great day

    Hi Ingrid
Well have been and helped with the dress rehersal, only the real thing to go now(2 nights of it!) I will also try expressing as i don't want my husband to feel left out and it also gives you a bit of a break aswell. Sorry to hear about your cold, i have heard that there is alot of it going around at the moment aswell as sickness bugs-can't stand being sick so thats something i'd rather not get! Nappies-I'm afraid i'm using dissposable ones so have already brought Huggies but they may not suit baby so will try Pampers aswell.Good on you trying the towelling ones, you will have to let me know how you get on with them. I don't work in Witney i work in a place called Ascott Under Wychwood which is about 15-20mins away,i know where Eynsham is though. Hope all is well,i'm off out for a meal tonight with my hubby as we won a voucher in a raffle and it has to be used by the end of 2007,a night off cooking what a RESULT!
    Talk soon
    Claire x
  • Hi Claire, so how was your meal? I have been doing loads of cooking lately making up home made meals and filling up the freezer so life is a little easier in the first few days when baby comes home!
    Did your nursing chair arrive?
I made a really hot curry last night and have got braxton hicks today, not sure if they connected but gosh they hurt!
anyway i better get on, chat soon
    Ingrid x
  • Hi Ingrid
The meal was lovely thank you, very fufilling and i'm beginning to realise that there is not much room left in my tummy anymore! You are so good making up all those meals ready for when baby comes along. That is something that i really need to start thinking about as i haven't done anything like that and definetely should.
Nursing chair arrived yesterday so me and hubby spent the afternoon putting it all together. It's a white one to match the nursery furniture with a cream cushion set and foot stool, really pleased with it and can't wait to be sitting in it with our new arrival.
Anyway hope you and baby are well, just going to make a list of things that i still need to do e.g finish off christmas shopping, start wrapping presents,do cleaning and as you have done start preparing meals to stock up in the freezer!
    Have a good day

  • Hi Claire, glad to hear you guys had a good meal and you happy with your chair!
Nigel and I are off for a tour of the maternity unit this afternoon, as im getting close to 35weeks im confident i will be able to have my baby in my local horton hospital in banbury and not travel to the JR in oxford, i did a tour of the JR already and it was lovely, so im hoping that the horton will be the same. What are you two doing for christmas?
Usually we get together with family but this year we staying at home as we want to stay near to the hospital, im still wondering if i should put up christmas decorations just for the two of us.....
I have done all my christmas shopping now, there is this beautiful range of toys i saw in "toys (babies) R us" i think its the garden friends range, and there is a toy called Isaac the newt that i really want to buy for the baby. i keep thinking i have forgotten something and i wonder around the nursery trying to imagine all the things i will need.
One thing i am looking forward to and that is swimming, you can take your baby from birth onwards, i think i will wait until he is 12weeks or so and then go there is some great hydro-therapy pools in oxford and banbury. Are you planning on doing any mom and baby groups/activities, i am quite shy to start off with dread attending the 1st class awkwardness.
Anyway i have babbled on enough, enjoy your rest of weekend and chat during the week.

Hi Ingrid sorry to have to answer to your message like this but with my pregnancy brain it's the only way i can remember what i want to say.
How did your tour of the Horton go,were you as pleased with it as the J.R? Nursing chair is wonderful and every now and again i have to go and sit in it just to remember what it's like!
We are spending christmas day round my mum and dads with my sister and her husband,my uncle and hopefully a new arrival! They only live round the corner which is handy as i always know they are on hand if we ever want anything and when baby comes along it will only be a 5 min walk away to go and see them.
They really do do loads of nice things at Babies r us.We have brought near enough all of our baby stuff from there,we went for the Pretty In Pink Range which is lovely and our nursery looks FAB.
Yes i would really like to and am quite keen to attend mother and baby groups,it will be quite nice to meet other mums and it's also a good way of making friends and talking BABIES! I think that it's important for all new mums to get out and about as sitting between your 4 walls everyday could get very tedious and it's a good way to socialise,I SAY GO GIRL!
Looking forward to quite a busy week this week, work christmas meal tomorrow.haircut on wednesday then round to a friends for tea, getting christmas veg and rest of food for christmas day on friday and then on sunday all the family are going out for christmas dinner. Will try my best to fit as much of this FOOD in as possible but with limited space i don't think it's going to be easy! Right am feeling quite tired now so i will finish there and look forward to speaking to you soon.

  • Hey Jules, great to hear from you, i thought you must have had the baby by now!! im also on crutches and its so tireing trying to walk with them! Are you hoping for an induction then?
goodluck Jules and please keep us updated on how things go tomorrow.....
    crossing fingers for you

Hi Claire, yes we are both very pleased with the horton, obviously much smaller than JR but its kinda 'homely' and the private en-suite rooms are nice i am really hoping that there is one available for me at the time even tho they are ??107 per night! if i do have a c-section then i have to spend the first night on the ward just so they can closely monitor me and then after that you can go into a private room. i also scrutinised the cleanliness of the theatre etc (im a veterinary nurse) and have already packed some dettol wipes in my hospital bag, but it all looked very clean!
my friend had her baby in the JR earlier this year (c-section) and came out with MRSA!
there is a lovely labour room with a massive built in pool and there are coloured moodlights which looks very relaxing! i think if i was able to have a natural birth i might like to try a water birth, do you intend to do anything different for your birth?
well i hope you have a great xmas party tonight and i will catch up with you soon.

  • Hi everyone

i'm a little bit behind everyone else as i'm only 7 weeks pregnant and this will be my first baby. I live in Banbury with my hubby but don't have any friends with children yet!!! It would be great if I could keep in touch with you guys for a bit of moral support image) I've only got a computer at work at the mo but will be getting my laptop ASAP!! Has anyone had a baby at the Horton Hospital?? I'm a bit worried becuase of the possible changes that might be happening.

Pixie woo - is great to hear that labour isn't that bad. I'm terrified and not sure if i should just opt for as many drugs as possible!!!

Hope everyone is well. Please keep in touch image))

P.s had written a longer message than this but i lost the bloody thing, how ANNOYING!:x
  • Congratulations Jules, it must be lovely to have your baby at home for christmas. I hope my labour is as short as yours.

  • Flick where is the baby cafe in banbury. I have never heard of it.
Also I noticed that you mentioned you could pay for a private room - did you visit the hospital to find out this info? Our midwife has told us to visit the hospital on a Sunday in new year. I had wanted a water birth until the girls at my aqua natal class put me off, telling me some home truths I hadn't thought of.
  • Hi guys, congrats Jules on your baby, i cant wait to see some pics.
Sarah the baby cafe is moving to Brittania road in January.
Yes the maternity unit tour on sundays at 3pm was very good, and when you see the room with the birthing pool ! its lovely, i would love to use it but Im having a c-section. oh yes and if you want a private room you just need to ask the midwife as soon as you go into the hospital that you would like one and she will let you know what they have available at that time.

well ladies have a great christmas and new year, i will be popping back in 2008!
    Ingrid x
  • the baby cafe is situated 5 mins from where i live!! happy xmas to all and with post birth story soon xxxxxxxxxxxxxx
