has anyone been referred to Liverpool Womens?

I haven't actually received my appointment yet  but then it was only a week ago today that my GP said he was referring us (I'm just impatient... I want a baby and I want 1 now) Just wondered what kind of experiences people have had at the Liverpool womens, I have no idea what the appointments/treatments will be like... How long they take... What they will do to us....If I will need time off work...

I guess it's the not knowing that is making me edgy, not being in control.

And what makes it worse is everywhere I look there are pregnant women or women pushing prams

Hey, I was referred to Liverpool Womens and found them to be excellent. I was seen a week after my gp referral. They arrange day 2 and day 21 bloods, the sperm analysis and and hsg where the dye is put through your tubes to check for blockages.

We were first seen in July and had follow up appointment with the consultant in september. As there was nothing wrong with either of us I was put on clomid for 3 months and was told we'd start ivf immediately after if nothing had happened. I fell pregnant after 2nd cycle and went back today for my 20 week scan.

Walking past all the heavily pregnant smoker pisses me off as much as it ever did and I actually want to slap the selfish cows!x

My gp was due to go on holiday the day after our appointment with him, so I'm fully expecting it to be another couple of weeks before our fc letter to drop through the box (doubt he would have sent it off before his holiday)

hubby has had an sa already will they do another? I've also had a 21 day bloods but none of the other tests. You got seen pretty quickly I'm hoping the same happens with me (even tho I'm nhs and there is probably a huge waiting list)

Congrats on the baby did you find out if it's a boy or girl? A guy in work found out last week that his gf is having a girl,he then asked me when I'm having kids your not getting any younger.... cheers for that like I hadn't noticed that 30 is fast approaching!

I'm totally with you on pg women smoking it's just so wrong, and so are people that moan about their kids taking over their lives (why have them then)

They will do all your bloods and SA again as they will only use their own results that are current. They did just get on with it with us, i was quite surprised especially the plan for ivf so quick. But take it while you can as this government will cut it. If you live in warrington you get zero fertility treatment. Clomid is a wonderdrug, seriously underated x

Fingers crossed they will be in touch soon then, really want to have a baby.... everywhere I look theres babies or someone telling me they're having one seems so unfair but thats life I suppose it isn't meant to easy. Glad I don't live in warrington thats cruel! x

I live in Warrington & didn't know this! image

Just googled it now and they'll re-assess the decision in July, sincerely hope we don't need it, but after 8 months, I'm no longer holding my breath!

Good luck with your appt WW, have heard good things about the Womens, I work at the Royal round the corner.

Vickster my gp said on average it is 9 months for a woman to conceive naturally so don't give up hope yet x

The first thing the consultant asked us was where we lived so I asked if it made a difference and he said yes, if you live in warrington we're not allowed to treat you. It's disgusting. We said if we'd needed it you'd find a friend in l'pool to use their address and change gp!

We were trying for 16 months in total but I had an ectopic on 2nd month of trying and then had to wait 3 months to try again. From trying again to falling was 10 months with a bit of help from clomid.

Bloody David Cameron will be cutting all NHS ivf in time i'm sure. He classes it in teh same catagory as having an unwanted tattoe removed and hair replacement therapy on teh NHS. How very easy when his wife seems to keep popping babies out x

I think I might give my gp a ring on monday, it's been just over 2 weeks and I've heard nothing either that or I'll ring the hospital to see if they've heard of me. If it's your first appointment Tina I think it's more of an open day where the nurses just explain all about the process of ivf and what they need from patients, I think they arrange your first tests which are 2 and 21 day bloods, some kind of scan of fallopean tubes and a sa test for your OH.

I've been trying to relax.. but it's not easy when all you can think about it getting a letter and getting started x

went to my gp this morning (damn cystitis again!) and asked him how long in general and he said 4 to 6 weeks. I know he's lying as I emailed the hospital and got a call off them today and they haven't received anything,as soon as they do they make contact even if they don't have appointments for a while. (the call came after my gp appointment) now I'm wondering if I should ring my gp like the nurse suggested or leave it a few days. The gp went away the day after he said he was referring us so he's probably left the paperwork until his return and he has had a reminder that I exist today.... and a few more weeks isn't really that much of a big deal is it? gives me a little longer to pay stuff off if anything!

Hi tina got my letter on saturday morning and appointment is 26 apr. Can't believe it's so soon, I thought I'd be waiting until at least the end of may. I haven't got to go for any tests before it but I'm sure they'll send me for plenty after! I'm feeling excited and anxious at the same time and I'm really hoping they can fix oh's problem (could just be being too optimistic there)and we can then go on to conceive naturally (if they don't find anything up with me that is) hope your scan goes ok on friday are you getting that done at the fertility clinic?

My first appointment was July and we were going to start ivf in january if it happened. They usually want to try you on clomid before ivf if there's no reason medically stopping you conceive. I fell on 2nd cycle so huge fan!x

I don't know if they'd give me clomid as oh had no sperm in the sample he gave 1st time,so if the same happens again (he's known for years that he has a swollen testicle tube he found out before joining the forces and just a few months back he got a small cyst too and the gp said then that if it wasn't bothering him then they didn't see the need to do anything... I'm not sure if they can anyway it's kind of a delicate area to be opening up and removing cysts from , got a feeling this may be the cause of the problem)

Just 2 more days until our appointment it's with consultant Lewis Jones he specialises in the male factor of infertility so I'm not sure whats going to happen with me... not long until I find out tho! Still dreaming that he can fix up OH but at the same time trying to prepare myself for the worst (on OH's orders he doesn't want me to get my hopes up too much... yeh right like that hasn't already happened  )

I hope you get good results at your appointment Tina
