Early days of investigations?
Hi everyone.
Well it feels like AF is on her way again so I'm pondering and analysing my way through the morning (just for a change).
I had swabs and an internal back in March after having spotting and some odd pinchy feelings to the right of my tum in Feb at about 6DPO. He ruled out EMC because AF was neither heavy nor painful. My swabs came back clear, GP found nothing and sent me for a scan, where they found one small cyst that would be no trouble and probably go on its own. We got referred a short while later. My bloods came back as normal. Hubby's SA came back as 'good'. Now we are waiting on the HSG in Dec-Jan and an appointment with the specialist nurse in Feb.
I have 2 questions if anyone can answer them.
1. What was the doc looking for with the swabs and internal?
2. What will the nurse do next if I ovulate, hubby's sperm is good and my tubes aren't blocked? I'm sure I won't qualify for medication. I don't know much about this because nobody's told me much :? Thanks for reading xXx

I'm also in that same position as you, with having all-clear blood tests and a 'good' SA result for hubby. We're currently on the waiting list for IUI, and IVF if we need to go down that route. I have been told by my consultant that I don't require any medication at this stage, as there is noting to "fix", if you know what I mean? We will probably have medication for the IUI and IVF, just to make sure that everything is happening at the right time.
Hope that answers your questions, although I'm sure your GP would be more than happy to talk to you if you're still anxious. I did, and they are used to having people coming back - it's a lot to take in!
Good luck xx
Welcome to the forum!! I just want to echo what MrsDoc has said. Internal and swabs are entirely routine before they even think about fertility treatment, to check for infection/fibroids etc.
Your experience sounds very similar to ours, am guessing that as long as hsg is normal they will diagnose you as "unexplained infertility" and refer you for IUI/IVF.
Can I ask how long you have been ttc??
We are due back at fertility clinic next Tues and hopefully start IUI fairly soon after that.
Keep in touch x
