IVF IN MY 20's

Hi,

Me and OH have just been for our first appointment at Cambridge IVF and are being put forward for IVF, Iam looking for other women in there 20's going through the same thing, as the focus seems to be on older women. Iam 24 and OH is 25, he has low motility all my tests have come back as normal, we have been trying since I was 17 after a miscarriage of an unplanned pregnancy (please don't judge We are still together after 10 years)

This has been a ridiculously hard journey and looking for someone to talk to or success stories.

  • Hi :)  I have just made an account on here for exactly the same reason as you. I'm 21 and have had four miscarriages over 2 years and my partner and I have also just been referred for IVF treatment hopefully starting the process in January. I was feeling really nervous and im really glad I came across this post now xx

  • Hi Davena,

its so good to find somebody else in the same boat and in early 20's!! Do you know the root of the problem?

  • Glad to see something on here like this.

I'm 22 and me and my partner have been trying for 4 years after having a early miscarriage when we got together. I have PCOS with a bmi of 18.5 (odd, I know) I have had recent scans, blood tests, swabs ext ready for a private referral next week. Bloods and scans come back normal, other than prolactin slight raised and the cycsts on my ovaries.

Hoping when we go private they will start by offering Clomid rather than jumping to IVF because I'm scared :(

  • No they haven't found a reason I've been having various tests and have had 3 months on clomid with no success. One of my pregnancies I carried for 14 weeks until I miscarried so I was referred to a specialist a bit sooner and he has just decided this week that IVF is the best way forward X

  • Hi Naomi,

Oh no that must be so frustrating! Are you self funding Iam guessing Yes?? I thought they were going to offer us clinic but I was dreading that as Iam just impatient now I guess lol

  • Oh Davena so sorry you've gone through so much heartbreak, will you e going NHS??

where are you girlies from ??

  • That was suppose to say clomid not clinic sorry lol x

  • Yeah it's NHS funded, I'm from Merseyside and I'll be going to a meeting with other couples from my area to find out more about the process and the funding as I'm not sure yet how many chances we have. In some areas 3 cycles are offered where some only offer 1. Where are you from x

  • Yeah, we are :-(

However because it's being done through my GP they will be working together to try and minimize the cost, so if it's just Clomid I'd be very grateful LOL!

  • Davena that's good that you've got funding, were right on the border so live in Hertfordshire but are having treatment in Cambridgeshire. We're super excited but feeling extremely nervous!! Especially about those injections!! We get 2 cycles on NHS here but the doctor is trying to rush us through as he thinks it will be going down to 1 cycle on the NHS soon :(

    Naomi,

I see, given that you have to pay clomid would definitely be the best option, I really hope they give you this first now I know your paying the £££!! I guess if it is going to work then definitely easier on the lady to!!
